A day immersed in history, art and spirituality.
In the morning, you will visit the three main sites of the Colosseum Archaeological Park: the Colosseum, a symbol of ancient Rome and the venue for gladiatorial contests; the Palatine Hill, the hill associated with the city’s origins; and the Roman Forum, for centuries the heart of Rome’s public, political and economic life.
After lunch, the tour continues to the Vatican Museums, which house an extraordinary collection of art amassed by the Popes over the centuries. The itinerary includes the Pio Clementino Museum, the Laocoön, the Belvedere Apollo, the Gallery of Maps, the Gallery of Candelabra, the Gallery of Tapestries and the famous Sistine Chapel, with Michelangelo’s frescoes.
Leaving the Museums, you will follow the guide along the walls of Vatican City to St Peter’s Square, dominated by Michelangelo’s Dome and surrounded by Bernini’s famous colonnade. The tour of St Peter’s Basilica will take place from the outside.
