A day dedicated to exploring Vatican City, the world’s smallest sovereign state.
In the morning, you will attend the Papal Audience in St Peter’s Square, a unique opportunity to see the Pope up close as he passes among the faithful and to hear his message and receive his final blessing.
After lunch, the tour continues with a guided visit to the Vatican Museums, which house an extraordinary collection of art gathered by the Popes over the centuries. The itinerary includes the Pio Clementino Museum, the Laocoön, the Belvedere Apollo, the Gallery of Maps, the Gallery of Candelabra, the Gallery of Tapestries and the magnificent Sistine Chapel, with Michelangelo’s frescoes.
On leaving the museums, you will follow the guide along the Vatican walls to St Peter’s Square, dominated by Michelangelo’s imposing dome and surrounded by Bernini’s famous colonnade, which encircles St Peter’s Basilica, one of the most important churches in the Christian world.
